WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING...

SALVATION is free, grace plenteous, forgiveness a glorious reality... yes, yes, yes...... BUT, daily Christian living entails work ("So then, my beloved... work out your salvation with fear and trembling..." - Phil. 2:12), wrestling (Eph. 6), resisting, fighting, running to win, chastening, suffering, a cross, being hated, groaning, daily putting on armour, hours in prayer, and, I could go on and on. These are all Scriptural teachings, about which I hear very little nowadays. Yes, God's grace is sufficient through it all, but living the life is costly, if we'll recall the clear teachings of Scripture. So, let's challenge one another more faithfully along these lines instead of what seems an endless and lopsided barrage of an antinomian misunderstanding of grace (Rom. 6:1ff).

ABOUT ME.....

Literally born and raised in a parsonage (dad and mom were pastor and wife for forty-five years), a Seminary graduate, a pastor for all my adult life in the Philadelphia area, upstate New York, California and Bermuda, a two year stint on a College and Seminary administrative team, a member of several Christian boards and councils, a husband to Sherrill, my dear child-hood sweetheart (a neighbor), father of three great kids, grandfather to eleven and great grandfather to sixteen, I readily attest to the fact that only by God's call, grace and sustaining power has anything of worth been accomplished in my long tenure of ministry. I also admit that I have that (sometimes cursed) kind of mind that thinks too much but which God gave me and has helped me ponder His Holy Word, work and needs of His people. Though often challenging, it is joy to follow and serve Jesus Christ. To God be the glory!
